Canavieiras is a happy town. Almost every night there is some party or dancing going on in the city or in one of the beach pubs.

At dusk people meet in the pubs and bars on the boulevard. In the "Coronel", beyond any doubt, you can enjoy the best view. Although you may have seen it already many times, it's simply great to see the dolphins pass by and jump. And they do so right under our nose in our habitual pub.

Especially during carnaval, new year and special holidays, you cannot escape from the crazyness of super hot bands and their super sounds! And man, how do people celebrate here!

On special occasions a whole beach is reserved, and it is really a great experience to see and feel thousands of people dancing beneath the palm trees and the sky during the whole night and enjoy their lives brazilian style!

And everything is done peacefully, in harmony - and with a lot of good humour. This is the magic of Bahia.

You are reading right: There really is a little nightclub in Canavieiras with the promising name "Vento Marinho" ("Wind from the Sea"),  of course - directly on the beach of Atalaya Island. 
Crispy young country chicks dance there at the rod a dextrous amateur strip. They come from Bahia's countryside, and boy, they really are sweet and somewhat innocent. Forget the pros!

The loudspeakers rustle and creak when the disco music changes. Awkward interruptions occur before the next song starts. On rainy days they put up pots, because the water penetrates a little, but everything is cool, because it never becomes really cold.
This is really a hit, because it's so funny and because such a thing does not exist anymore in the rest of the world. And boy, the girls' bodies... and how they dance!
The place is clean and original and by no means vulgar. No problem if you go there with female company! The prices are very affordable. In any japanese youth hostel you surely pay more for a drink.
A beer tin and Cuba Libre cost about 2 bucks. And the girls are pleased if you invite them for a drink. You don't have to pay more for the company. And the more you drink, the more the prices go down: This is the sympathy discount!
Besides: Nobody has a calculator, nobody writes down anything. The tins are already in the garbage, and when the number surpasses 10, so that you can't use your fingers anymore... then starts the improvisation - but always in favour of the guest!
They don't tell you, what you have consumed, but you tell them!

How do you get back to your hotel? The chicks call a mototaxi: That costs one buck to head back to the city. Every taxi ride within the city is one buck.
There are also normal cabs: 3 - 4 bucks. Don't expect a limo.
